Contest Underway Friday, December 23, 2016 | 3:42pm 2017-18 Tennessee Wildlife Calendar Photo Contest Underway The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is now accepting entries for its 2017-18 photo contest for publication in the Tennessee Wildlife’s annual calendar issue. All interested photographers are invited to submit up to 10 of their best photos on fishing, hunting, boating, and wildlife species native to Tennessee. The photos will be reviewed for publication in the annual calendar edition of Tennessee Wildlife, which is the summer issue. If a photo is selected for the calendar edition, the photographer will receive a cash stipend of $60.          Interested photographers must submit their photo entries by the March 17, 2017 deadline. Deer killed in Sumner County to be certified a world record ... by Mike Organ

It's official — Gallatin resident Stephen Tucker shot a world record whitetail deer in November in Sumner County. Now all that's left is certification. Tucker, 27, killed the trophy buck with a muzzleloader, but a 60-day drying out period had to take place in order to allow for possible shrinkage of the antlers. That period ended on Monday, and a measurement of the 47-point rack was made by a Boone and Crockett panel of four judges, who gave the deer a score of 312 3/8 inches.
